The Beginning of the Christmas Unmadness

I promised myself not to go crazy about Christmas this year.  First, I intended to get my tree the day after Thanksgiving and decorate it that weekend.  I wanted to do that in the interests of enjoying hours and hours of work for a few more days before the holiday actually comes and goes.  It never happened.  So today I found myself  still sadly lacking in Christmas spirit and I decided I needed to jump start the spirit business.  We went to our usual tree farm with every intention of buying a smaller tree to minimize the work.  That also did not happen.  I now have a 10 foot tree sitting in a bucket of water outside my front door.  I have to explain.  I took my husband with me and he was unusually patient this year, saying over and over again, “I’m not in a hurry.”  But the wind was kicking up, the temperature was dropping, and I took the first tree I laid my eyes on.  It’s gorgeous of course, but it will definitely involve a ladder and me on it, which is not a good combination.  So wish me luck.  The decorating starts tomorrow.
